List. 12 best wines I’ve tried in 2022
At the end f the year, we like to look back and reminisce. In terms of wine 2022 was definitely a Champagne year for me! I’ve visited 10 excellent winegrowers in the Champagne region, been to Mosel in Germany to try one of the most exciting Rieslings out there and int the beginning of the year stopped by the Valpolicella to explore powerful Amarones. Below you will find my personal list of 10 best wines I’ve tried in 2022 - not necessarily in order. Enjoy!
Tuscany. Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello Di Montalcino 2012
Do you fancy Brunellos? From one of my journeys to Tuscany from a beautiful, little town of Bagno Vignoni I brought home a bottle of Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino 2012. Gaja is one of the most famous wine producers from Italy. Vineyard originated and is still based in Barbaresco, in northwest Italy. Gaja name remains strongly associated with Nebbiolo-based wines, although the company now produces more wine in Tuscany than Piedmont.
Piedmont. Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2019
It is always a pleasure to check on the recent vintages of Vietti entry wines. They consistently deliver top quality for the fraction of a price of some great Barolos and also give you a unique chance to peek into the future and try to predict how the Barolos of the vintage will turn out once they are released.
Northern Rhône. Cave Saint Désirat Condrieu 2017
If you’re looking for an exciting bottle for tonight, I might have a perfect recommendation. My first Viognier and I got immediately hooked on this aromatic and seductive grape variety. Viognier is a full-bodied white wine that originated in southern France.
Burgundy. Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais nouveau 2021
Third Thursday of November is a special date for all wine lovers all around the world as it is when Beaujolais Nouveau wines from the current vintage are being released.
Tuscany. Isole e Olena Chianti Classico 2016
‘Isole e Olena’ is one of the most famous estates in the Chianti Classico region. It’s run by Paolo De Marchi, who creates wines of the quality that have kept the vineyard ahead of the competitors for the past three decades.
Burgundy. David Duband Vosne-romanée 2012
Without any doubts Vosne-Romanée is the most famous village in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits and home of the most expensive wines in the world, among others coveted Romanée-Conti from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Burgundy. Domaine Bzikot Puligny-Montrachet 2018
Sylvain Bzikot has traditional and respectful approach to winemaking and it really shows in the end product. This village level wine proven to be a wonderfully fresh and harmonius Côte de Beaune white Burgundy.
